Dean Mathews is the founder at OnTheClock and also makes the coffee there. He's a self-taught software engineer and entrepreneur, and he initially conceived and developed OnTheClock back in 2004. Today he still writes code for the app, but he also spends more time on product development and marketing.

Previously, OnTheClock was sending their transactional email through their web host-provided email servers. As OnTheClock added a higher quantity of (and more important) email contact points such as clock in/clock out notifications, they started receiving more and more customer complaints about emails not being received. For over a year, OnTheClock worked with their hosting company to achieve a higher delivery rate, but were unsuccessful. This is when Dean started doing some research and realized that he needed a transactional email provider. After meticulously comparing 5 or 6 providers, OnTheClock decided on Postmark.
On making the decision to use Postmark, Dean said, "We researched all the transactional email vendors and chose Postmark because they came highly recommended their pricing was on point and integration was simple."
